Vitrans Guided Conveyor System

Versatile, cost-efficient and highly durable

Guided conveyor systems are designed for applications where workpieces must travel along a defined, controlled path. The system’s guiding elements ensure that lateral deviation of the transported product is minimal, enabling precise, stable and predictable material handling.
Below we present the operating principle, the key advantages and the industrial scenarios where guided conveyors offer the best solution.

WHY CHOOSE A GUIDED CONVEYOR SYSTEM?

versatile | cost-efficient | highly durable

Guided conveyor systems are conveyors in which the transported product is kept on a predefined path by mechanical guidance. The advantage of the system is that the movement of the workpiece is not only driven forward but also stabilized laterally, enabling high-precision and repeatable processes.

This design is ideal for applications where the product’s shape, size or stability requires precise, laterally guided material handling. Guided conveyors integrate well into automated production and assembly processes where it is essential for the product to pass through each station in the same position.

KEY BENEFITS:

  • Versatile applicability – one system for a wide range of industrial challenges.

  • Cost-efficient operation – low operating costs with maximum energy efficiency.

  • Reliability and durability – long service life with minimal maintenance.

  • Precise and stable transport – guide rails minimize lateral movement, ensuring controlled and predictable motion.

  • Reliable repeatability – the system ensures that workpieces arrive at each station in the same position.

  • Adaptable to different workpieces – the guide shape and spacing can be tailored to the product geometry.

  • Suitable for automated processes – easily synchronized with robots, measurement systems and quality inspection units.

  • Ideal for products requiring stability – ensures safe transport of workpieces that would not remain securely on the conveyor without guidance.

DISCOVER HOW VITRANS GUIDED CONVEYOR SYSTEMS WORK!

The operation of guided conveyor systems is based on a combined conveying and guiding structure:

  • a belt-, chain- or shaft-driven element provides the linear motion,

  • while guide rails, clamps or side supports ensure the product remains in the desired position.

The movement can be continuous or indexed, depending on the cycle time of the production process.
The system design allows the creation of long straight sections, curves and bends, while the product remains under full control along the entire path.

The type of guidance (such as side rails, U-profiles, top guidance or central alignment) depends on the shape and stability requirements of the workpieces being transported.

APPLICATIONS OF VITRANS GUIDED CONVEYOR SYSTEMS

Guided conveyor systems are most commonly used in the following areas:

  • Assembly lines – where the product must be held in a precise position through multiple operations.
  • Electronics and fine-mechanical manufacturing – for transporting position-sensitive components.
  • Material handling of products with special geometries – where lateral guidance is required due to part shape.
  • Automated inspection stations – where precise arrival and fixed position are essential.
  • Transporting smaller or narrower products – whose stability can only be ensured with guided support.

Because the system guarantees fully controlled movement throughout the entire path, it is particularly suitable for industrial processes where even minimal deviation can lead to errors.
